GB Hockey had a programme of pre-Olympic events under the umbrella of Hockey Nation one of which was the npower Big Dribble, which was their version of the torch relay.
They visited 40 cities around the country over 18 days to give people of all ages and abilities the chance to pick up a stick and take part.
They set out a circuit for people to do their own hockey dribble in an attempt to set a record for dribbling hockey balls 2012km across Great Britain and there was a giant hockey ball for fans to sign to wish Great Britain’s hockey teams ‘good luck’ ahead of the Games.
In addition, they had partnered with WellChild, the UK’s national charity for sick children, and are hoped to raise some money for them along the way. Robin Palmer PR Ltd were asked to handle the media at the Gateshead event.
